Tongue-tie (Ankyloglossia) is a condition present at birth where the thin piece of tissue under the tongue (called the lingual frenulum) is shorter, tighter, or thicker than usual. This can restrict how the tongue moves.
🧠 Common Symptoms
👶 In babies:
Difficulty breastfeeding (poor latch)
Clicking sounds while feeding
Slow weight gain
Irritability during feeding
🧒 In children / adults:
Trouble sticking the tongue out fully
Difficulty pronouncing certain sounds (like t, d, l, r)
Problems licking lips or eating certain foods
Gap between lower front teeth (in some cases)

It’s congenital (present from birth)
Exact cause isn’t always known
Can sometimes run in families
